First step, pack a ladder. We had to get our car in position to climb up to the roof, as demonstrated below. We decided to cover the opening left by the antenna with a round piece of aluminum we cut from the leftover belly pan material. We then prepped the areas using whatever tools we had on hand, blade/scraper/scrubbies/etc., and cleaned with rubbing alcohol.
Once the new belly pan was in, we had 2 pieces of subfloor left to install. These last 2 pieces went in much smoother than the larger pieces! Our workspace. We applied polyurethane to some areas of the old subfloor and all of the new subfloor to help prevent future water damage to the wood structure.
Once we got most of the new subflooring in, it was time to replace the belly pan. We found the perfect material at Metal Supermarkets in Birmingham, AL. We recommend 5052 sheet aluminum, .032 thickness (or comparable). We purchased a sheet measuring 106” x 6', and we then cut it to fit the area needed. We kept the existing banana wrap and riveted the new pan to the inside of the banana wrap, enough to cover the damaged areas. See photos below.
